the many shiny things of mrs strife

In Eir's Tomorrow, I imagine Cloud's mum to be the type of woman who wears far too many necklaces and lots of swishy, peasant-style skirts (maybe a blue dirndl for holidays). I don't know what it is about her that I'm starting to love so much...
When I go to another country I decide ahead of time what I'm looking for, if anything, to avoid spending money on otherwise meaningless souvenirs. Before going to Germany, I chose to look for a pendant of Mjolner, or Thor's Hammer, and/or a set of runes. I found the first one:

Now imagine it carved from an Ice materia, and you'll have the necklace that Cloud's mum gave him before leaving for Midgar. (I tried googling for a Mjolnir made from glass or something, but metal was all I could find. This one's solid sterling silver, and while it may not look like much, it was worth every euro to me. Even if the streetseller woman was a total bitch and treated me like the typical American tourist who didn't know what the hell she was talking about, but damn it, I knew exactly what I was looking for and talking about. Condescend to me, will you... *grumbles*)

Slight spoiler: the necklace Mrs Strife was wearing with a 'B-shaped carving' was meant to be this rune, Berkana. Think of the word 'motherhood,' and everything that comes along with it is what Berkana represents. (I got this pic off Google, but strangely enough, I had one exactly like it about six, seven years ago in the beginning of high school...o.O)
Off to write essays on folklore~
EDIT: I misspoke. Rather than 'peasant skirts,' I meant something more like this - which isn't quite German dirndle enough, but it still makes me happy.
