I wouldn't imagine a demon would be able to possess two people at once/share the possession, if only because it brings up the question of how a human soul works.
I have always gotten the impression that a demon mid-transfer is sorta powerless (being non-corporeal and also not fully free of the meat-suit); but the dream lead to some interesting thoughts. Like...if it the folks involved were Dean/Jo (who I admittedly ‘ship the hell out of) or Sam/Dean and demon!Dean sorta snuck the link up in half way through a seduction, would his victim really have the ability to fight off even a half-hearted take over…
Because of an underlying desire to have the physical contact already is present.
I tend to think of souls as energy. Some are older than others. Some are meaner than others. Some are just more powerful than others. But ultimately, they are also sorta linked up in the overall grid and perhaps draw power from the same source (insert your favorite deity or physics equation here).
I certainly don’t think a soul* could be divided between multiple vessels, hence the need for some sort of umbilical connection. Which would mean that this sort of co-possession would be ultimately useless to a demon. In most situations.
Most. Situations.
*ie: A soul as a named entity, and self-identifies as an ‘individual’. As opposed ‘the spirit’ which is both a universal (everywhere) and general (non-specific) form of energy.
