Mixing in background information naturally. This is wonderful to hear and something I hope you or another person will call me on if I fuck it up too obviously, like with a "~~~FLASHBACK~~~" divider. Well, no, I wouldn't do that, but even rereading this chapter there's a place that still makes me wince, so you know what I mean. READ MY MIND, DUDE.
It's so hard to get a feel for Gast, seriously. Like, it's hard to believe he felt nothing for Ifalna, or Sephiroth for that matter, but at the same time, yeah - the recordings, the experiments, they all went on. :| Maybe you could go with a 'plague' of some kind, maybe in Ifalna's parents' generation that wiped the Ancients out? The Planet is dying...
You know I picked up FF8 again, right, and wtf, Triple Triad is totally a weird mix of Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering. I just save the game before initiating a battle, in case I lose a good card, but at this point it's like IF I'M GOING TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME OBSESSING OVER CARDS I MAY AS WELL BE WORKING ON MY BLACK/WHITE DECK AND WINNING MONEY OUT OF M:TG TOURNAMENTS. OR USING TAROT. Christ.
