I liked who she became, particularly in EW, and I only ship her and Heero as workaholic BFFs, not romantic partners, but I admit I found her irritating as hell in the beginning. Come to think of it I do believe I read a 5xR because why not and actually liked it, wtf.
I always thought of Quatre as being the most unstable and potentially cruel of the pilots - hell, wasn't he the one that snapped under Zero? Granted, he made the colony evacuate before destroying it, but he destroyed a colony and attacked Trowa.
Ah, yes, angel!Heero and shinigami!Duo were a huge thing, whether it was just in metaphor or more literal. Pff, I kind of want to write one now.
